Zhouzhuang Water Town

Zhouzhuang is widely considered China's oldest water town, with a history spanning over 900 years. Located between Shanghai and Suzhou, it's famous for the Twin Bridges (Shuang Qiao) — a pair of stone bridges that form a right angle over intersecting canals, made famous by the painter Chen Yifei in the 1980s. The town's well-preserved Ming and Qing Dynasty residences, including the Shen House and Zhang House, showcase the refined architecture of Jiangnan's merchant class.
