Six Harmonies Pagoda

13-story Song Dynasty pagoda · Qiantang River views

The Six Harmonies Pagoda (Liuhe Ta) was built in 970 AD during the Northern Song Dynasty, originally to "calm" the Qiantang River's famous tidal bore — the largest in the world. The current structure dates from 1156 (Southern Song) and 1899 (Qing Dynasty restoration). Standing 60 meters tall with 13 exterior stories (7 interior), the pagoda offers sweeping views of the Qiantang River and the Qiantang River Bridge — China's first modern bridge, built in 1937. Climb to the top for the best vantage point.
