Longmen Ancient Town

Longmen Ancient Town ("Dragon Gate") is a living village inhabited by the descendants of Sun Quan, the founding emperor of Eastern Wu during the Three Kingdoms period (220–280 AD). The town's layout follows the pattern of a dragon, with narrow cobblestone lanes winding between well-preserved Ming and Qing Dynasty buildings. Unlike the more commercialized water towns, Longmen feels authentically lived-in — residents still wash clothes in the stream, dry vegetables in their courtyards, and gather in the ancestral hall. It's about 50 km from Hangzhou.
